Is Being a Woman Merely a Biological Construct?

What shapes a woman? What defines her essence? A woman is not just flesh and blood; she’s the sum of societal expectations, ingrained misogyny, and the weight of harsh traditions. She’s revered as a Goddess yet labelled impure the moment she menstruates. Upon her husband’s death, she’s cloaked in white and stripped of her individuality. She’s deemed a bad omen when she dares to engage with men, and when she enters the workforce, she’s accused of seeking validation. She longs for warmth but instead feels the sting of a slap. A woman is Lakshmi, confined within the kitchen’s boundaries; Durga, forced to bury her dreams and stifle her passion; Saraswati, silenced; Radha denied the right to love by choice; Sita, shouldering the burdens of the world and Kali, expected to bow down before her in-laws. In today’s world, a woman isn’t celebrated for her dignity but too often becomes a reflection of a silenced, innocent girl.

Society claims “boys will be boys,” while girls are expected to behave as “ladies,” ignoring the reality of young girls who have already been destroyed and trafficked for some vile gain. A woman is the victim of every act of cruelty and inhumanity, slaughtered in places where brutality is normalised. Who is she, you ask? She’s a treasure for those who lust after her, an object to “use” in moments of rage or grief.

Society clings to the notion that biology alone differentiates men from women. Yet, every person possesses both feminine and masculine energy—it’s simply a matter of what we choose to embrace. A man with feminine energy faces the same abuse a girl endures for daring to look out the window. No, women are not confined to biological constructs. They are energy—the purest form, though tragically exploited in the most impure ways. Women are the foundation of the universe, the very essence that drives existence. Every man carries a feminine energy within him, one that he either neglects or venerates. Our ancient texts, though half-forgotten, teach us about the eternal Ardhnarishwar—half woman, half man.

The truth endures, and women will always remain the most potent energy this world has yet to comprehend fully.
